My projects

So what am I working on at the moment?
July 2011
It's been a while since I update my projects! You will see most of the things I have completed on my blog, this is the latest, a little Summer top called 'Primrose', from the Louisa Harding Booklet 'Ianthe':

I did change the neck, the pattern is a V-neck but I prefer round!

I just can't keep up with all the lovely things I want to knit! I'm working on a lovely Louisa Harding Jersey called 'Friday' it's from her booklet 'Blue Monday'. It's so lovely to knit, you work the back, front & sleeves up to the arm holes then join it altogether on a circular. Knitted in Willow Tweed which is just gorgeous on the hands:

I've just about finished my little Debbie Bliss Shrug from her book called 'Andes'. The yarn is beautiful, so soft and the silk content helps the yarn to glide along the needles. Such a simple but effective garment and quick to knit too!

Just need to sew a button on!

June 2010
I managed to finish the little boys Tank Top I was working on and Alpaca Teddy is stuffed and sewn up (you can see them completed on my blog).  The Louisa Harding top (Rowlee from 'Little Cake' has once again been put on the back burner as I can't watch the World Cup and concentrate on the pattern at the same time, I'm bound to drop a stitch or forget a yarn over!  So I'm knitting something very simple a little top-down jumper on circular needles, using sock yarn.  It's a bit of an experiment and if it comes out well I will write out a pattern for it.

I'm also practising my crochet, it feels so odd holding the yarn in the left hand, so at the moment I am finding it much slower than knitting!  I will persevere and will only be happy when I can do it with my eyes closed!  It is pretty addictive I have to say, although time wise it took me all evening to make three little granny squares!  And what on earth do you do with all those ends!  I'm sure there must be a way of weaving them in as you work, any tips?

And this is going to be a bag, I just love the colours of the rico creative cotton so bright and lovely to work with, it's an aran weight so quite hardy too.  Goodness knows if I'll ever get it finished, I should have just done a small bag, but no, mine has to be a handy shopping bag size!  Still, it's good practice!

Where do I start! Like many of you I have a number of projects on the go! I used to be so good at completing one project (including sewing up) before taking a lot of time and pleasure in choosing and moving on to the next.

Now my customers dominate some of that choice as I do commissions, don't get me wrong I love it and get quite excited about knitting something I had not planned to knit - I do draw the line however when I'm asked for the same thing over and over again! I really like to only knit stuff once or twice.  Take this beautiful Debbie Bliss designed baby jacket (The Baby Knits Book), it is so lovely to knit and turns out perfect every time, however having made 4 I'm really not looking forward to doing any more, I will just have to get my Mum or Mother-in-law to do them!

I'm currently making a teddy bear for a lovely customer (designed by Erika Knight - Natural Nursery Knits) who wants to put it in her new nursery while she awaits the birth of her first baby (how exciting) and I also enjoyed playing with a little bit of fairisle on a tank top for a very cute 1 year old (I forgot how much I love fairisle, though untwisting my yarns can be a pain and don't even get me started on sewing in all the ends!).
